Can anyone please tell me what this HDTV thing is all about?

I have just been reading a review of the SANYO PLV-Z1 on Projector central.com and they state it delivers excellent pictures for anyone using it for HDTV. Do you need addional kit for this or is it a setting on the projector. Sorry to be thick about this but i am new to projectors and still decideing which PJ to but for a budget of £2000

    Thanks,

    Dave....

HDTV = High Definition Television. It is primarily a broadcast format with much higher resolution than standard TV. It is only (I think) broadcast in the USA via cable &/or satellite.

There is no European HDTV source. Neither is there an easy-to-use software source - yet.

Some believe that a new format of DVD will come along in the not too distant future with HD signals on it. But not yet.

I gather that the new version of T2 has an HDTV version on it - but is only playable on a PC and only then if you 'unlock' it from an internet link - which doesn't work if you are not in the US.

Could you please edit your sig - I've PM'ed you twice about it but both are so far unread :(

4 lines is the forum max - list horizontally &/or reduce the font size.

    Thanking you.

    Hi,

HDTV is also broadcast in Japan and Australia. See www.euro1080.tv for info on a proposed European HDTV service.
