i have been struggling to confirm whether Samsung's SP42Q2HL rear pro set i sactually HDTV ready abd what that actually means. the only reference to HDTV in connection to this set is at:
http://www.dealtime.co.uk/xPF-Samsung_SP_42Q2HL

no other site makes mention of HDTV capability. This model does, however, seem to be one of the only rear pro screens with component inputs (most are scart/RF/Svideo only). BTW the Samsung website is absolute rubbish; i got more info off of Comet's website on this model!!

if Sky ever does get their HD format issues resolved, will this set allow me to connect the set top box directly through the component input? or will i still need additional kit?

any help at all is much appreciated,

I registered just to reply to this :)

I've just ordered the Samsung SP42Q2HLX/XEU from Comet based on your post. I called into the store to see the words "HDTV ready 1080i" actually printed on the set. Even the salesman didn't know it was HDTV! lol

Anyways I'm hoping this turns out to be a good tv once it gets here, 42 inches of loveliness!

I'll report back here once I have it here and set up :)
