    Hey all.
Just wondering for iwhen the HDTV comes out will it be possible to to output a HD signal from dvi output on say a dvd player/set top box etc to my PC and then from my PC to Plasma (42" Panasonic Viera) via a VGA cable?
Can a VGA cable carry a HD signal? Im guessing so since you can get the high resolutions on the plasma through it, although it wont be a "digital" signal.
Im just a bit sketchy on the specifics, and I can seem to find any definitive answrs on this on the web.
Ive checked out Microsofts HD samples, ordered the T2 extreme too to see how it is, on the plasma via the VGA and it looks absolutley stunning, is this actually a HD signal im seeing on the plasma when watching it?
    cheers for any help,
    Simeo

Expect only HDCP-enabled devices to accept digital HD input. This means that only equipment that do not have a recording or manipulating capability will be allowed to input digital HD. This will happen through a handshake between a chip in the display and the DVI outlet. Your PC will have to be content with SD digital or HD analogue. This does not mean that there won't be hacks. An American professor of cryptography is on record as saying that HDCP would be easy. For the purposes of your question, the answer is "no", however.

Depends on your definition of "HD". Yes, you can get high-definition via a VGA cable, but the connection is analogue. However, as far as most definitions of "HD" go, it is a HD signal all the same.

Is there much difference between digital and analogue HD, like a real visible difference?
saying that, even if there is im content with the HD quality that it is outputting through a VGA anyway.
