HDTV on XBOX

Does the UK XBOX output HDTV as I've bought the cable and no option appears anywhere.

No, I think it's just the NTSC XBox that offers this option. On my US XBox it's in the dashboard video settings, where you get the option to select display compatibility with 480p, 720p and 1080i formats.

Is the option to switch only there when high def lead plugged in ?
Any idea if chipping will activaye this feature.

I can take all my xbox stuff back cos Game did no quibble exchange but 2 of games I bought in HMV so I guess I'm stuck with those.
I half wonder about trade descriptions as it says HDTV on box yet we cant reproduce it !

have a look at my post in this thread: http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=53803 , it explains that you CAN get HDTV on an unchipped UK xbox with the hi def pack, but not on all PAL games.
