Pardon the possibly stoopid question :)

The previous owner at my place left a Sky dish on the wall (but took the box !). Can I use this dish to feed a SkyStar 2 card just to cheaply check out what HDTV looks like ?

I understand that the dish will have to be repositioned a few degrees ?

    TIA,
    /BJ

If it is the 45cm oval shaped one that is used for sky digital then the answer will be No. You will need one slightly larger. If it is the analogue dish then the answer is yes as these were 60cm.

Also if it is the analog dish it will probably be pointing at 19.2 E.
    Double bonus.

Silly question but will a sky analogue dish and LNB connected to a Sky digibox get any channels?

If it's an analogue LNB, no.

Digital LNB yes but you need to input frequencies etc. in the "other channels" menu of the digibox.

Lyngsat will have details of (free) available channels @ Astra 19.2.

You can get astra 19.2, but very rarely from a 45cm minidish. A professional aligner and a sunny cloudless day and good place in the uk is essential though.
