Hi all,
is there any 32" (16:9) CRT with HDTV support, besides the JVC HV-32P37S?

I am considering to buy a new TV with the following features:
32" CRT
16:9
progressive scan
component input

I have found the following models on the market that meet my requirements:
Panasonic TX-32PD30D
Thomson 32 WB 642 S
Toshiba 32ZD36P

Does any of them support HDTV?

Do you think the HDTV support is an important feature to take into consideration?

Thanks!

If you need to replace your TV now and would expect to keep it for about 5 years then yes, I would personnally consider HDTV (not necessarily for broadcast content, but for Blu-ray or whatever "replaces" DVD)

I presume a 32" is the minimum spec of a set that you'd need to see the benefit of HDTV - anything less and I understand you may not notice the difference too much (although I haven't myself had the opportunity to compare say a 28" with/without HDTV display)

I don't know much about the sets you have mentioned - perhaps someone else can give you some advice.

I've had a search on all these tvs
Firstly, it seems that none of these are available in the uk.
Secondly none of them mention High Definition inputs. None of them have VGA or HD component inputs even though they all have some kind of line-doubling feature.

I can't see a way of getting a HD signal into these tvs

Is there something I've missed?

When is the new "DVD-HD" (Blue-ray or whatever) format supposed to be available?

Thanks!

wolf,

HD-DVD players should be available in about 12-18 months time and should offer output up to 1080p, but may be over DVI or HDMI only. Hope this helps.
