HDMI vs SCART question - bi-directional?

Now in the good old days if you didn't have an appropriate tuner in your video recorder IIRC you could feed a signal from your TV SCART to the video recorder.

Just looked at my Panny and it shows AV In/AV Out (presumably composite video) for the SCART sockets.

So can you do the same with HDMI?
i.e. take a signal from the TV via HDMI into for example a PC with an HDMI port?
Or are all HDMI ports push or pull only?

Just trying to work out how I can record with my HTPC before I get tuner cards.

Cheers

HDMI ports on a PC's video card are normally output only. Similarly a TV will normally only have HDMI inputs.

To capture video on the PC you would need a card like this.

I know what you are on about, and HDMI doesn't behave like this.

"Just trying to work out how I can record with my HTPC before I get tuner cards."

As above, probably best with tuner cards, unless you venture into analogue capture cards, which would be a pain in the pooper to set up and manage.
