    hi guys,

not sure if this has been done before, but looking to purchase either a panny or tosh 32" telly and an xbox 360. both tellys can receive 1080p but they downscale to 720p. both can output 720p/1080i. so my question is.. is it worth shelling out the extra for an xbox 360 elite with an hdmi connection or will the picture be just as good through composite. from what i understand the hdmi cable is purely for 1080p quality? not bothered about the additional hard drive.

    cheers in advance.

Untill the Elite is properly released this week, I would wait. Because its unclear just HOW much better HDMI is over component.

I wouldn't bother with the elite, not worth the extra cost.

If there is any difference between HDMI and Component on the 360 Elite I don't think you will see it on a 32" TV and if by chance you can see it it wouldn't be worth the wait (Elite in the UK at the end of the year or so I hear) or the extra cost.

HDMI is a digital connection where as Component/VGA are analogue connections, Component and VGA can also do 1080p.
I do tend to find HDMI does look slightly better than Component on my 96" projector screen but it's only visible due to the size of it.
