I see that maplins do a HDMI to DVI cable that carries digital video & audio signals,is this possible? and would the audio be in 5.1 or more,or would it depend on my graphic card ?.

    Hello Paul

I doubt it - I've never heard of a DVI 'Receiver' that has embedded Audio (Stereo or Multichannel) its not part of the DVI specification; though Digital Audio is part of the full HDMI specification.

I'd ask your supplier to explain or show you it working before you purchase.

    Best regards

    Joe

PS Keep in mind your HDMI source will encrypt all Commercial Discs with a High Definition Digital Copy Protection (HDCP) signal so you have to ensure any DVI equipped Display or Projector your contemplating is HDCP compatible on its DVI Input.
