    Hi
I am about to purchase an home cinema setup.
Speakers Amp and maybe a PHD8

I am just wondering if the new amps with HDMI switching like the Denon 3806 will convert the signal from various devices (Sky+,DVD Xbox360) that are connected by Svideo or Component leads into the AMP and then one single HDMI cabler out of the amp to the PHD8.
This would mean I only need the HDMI board on the Plasma.

I am correct in thinking this

    Thanks in advance
    Elad

you need an amp which upconverts to HDMI - switching will only pass multiple HDMI inputs out via a single output.

The Denon 3806 seems to do what you require, but at that price would it be cheaper for you to get extra boards (what about things like SCART)?

What do you mean 'extra boards'? Forgive my ignorance but is that like some sort of plug in up converter thingy?

The yamaha 2600 provides lots of video scalling and processing goodies and if the sounds like the 2500 will not disapoint.
The extra board refers to the fact that many Plasmas have input boards, and as such can pick and choose which inputs you'd like, as the boards are normaly about £100-150 you could get a board with scart in, or s-video or component. Each board usualy comes with a selection of inputs, so its not like you'll be paying £150 just for a scart socket.
