A friend of mine has only got one HDMI input on his Sharp LCD but has a DVD with HDMI output and will shortly be getting (he hopes!) Hi-Def cable from Telewest. He is looking for a way to be able to use both boxes into the one HDMI port. Has anybody got any suggestions?

    Hello Fordster

Yes install a Multi Input HDMI Switcher :)

Your friend needs to work out if he's likely to add further Digital sources and if yes how many?

Switchers can be 2:1, 4:1; 2x2; 4x2 etc... lots of options.

Gefen being one manufacturer to consider - see http://www.gefen.com/kvm/hometheater.jsp

Also does he/she require Video and Sound into the LCD screen or just Video?

    Best regards

    Joe

spend £100+ on a HDMI splitter, or just use component out from the DVD player (might not actually be able to tell the difference anyway)

Good point. He doesn't want to spend £100 and I can see his point. By the time he's spent money on cables and switches he could have just paid more money for a TV with 2 HDMI ports! I think he's already looked at the Gefen switchers and rejected them for being too expensive but thanks anyway.
