hdmi splitter issue

I have a hdmi 1.3 splitter after my bluray going to a Pioneer Plasma elite and to my Yamaha receiver. I get no sound out of the tv. I am trying to watch and listen to the dvd player without having to turn on surround sys. Any help?

You might need to set your DVD player to output 2 channel PCM.

Very few displays can handle anything other than this. Just remember to set it back to bitstream afterwards or you won't get 5.1 from your surround system.
