HDMI Splitter boxes???

Hi, having just bought a Sony KDL46S2030 with one hdmi port I need to connect a PS3 and a sky HD box. I purchased a HDMI splitter box from e-bay by vivo, but niether sky or the ps can get a picture, although they both work fine when connected directly. The splitter works fine with my surround sound. Any help would be very welcome. Regards.

Switcher = multiple inputs --> one output
Splitter = one input --> multiple outputs

I assume you have it cabled up correctly so your screen connected to output and ps3 and sky to inputs 1 and 2?

Power is on? also you may want to make sure you have it switched prior to turning everything on as its a digital signal and may not like it otherwise
