Can anyone advise me whether HDMI slot is two way. Reason for asking is that I want to output video from my pc to record onto my Samsung DVDR 725 which has a HDMI slot. Don't know nothing about HDMI but was wondering whether the slot is likely to accept a signal as well as transmitting.

    Thanks.

It is not like a SCART, which can be 2-way. Think of it as essentially a miniaturised version of the DVI interface used with digital computer displays, but with added audio capability. It is one-way. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI for more.
