I've just bought a Panasonic DVD-S97 HDMI upscaling DVD player. Displays in 750P and 1080i. Picture quality is superb imo. Multi-region version cost £169 from Richer Sounds.

I originally connected my S97 up via HDMI but found that it rigidly controlled the ratio formatting and would not allow 'Superlive' on 4:3 material. So I junked it for progressive component, which does. And I can't really tell the difference (both cracking, I might add), other than I now have control back of how I want to display things.

    Regards
