Just go straight from phono from the PS3. What you are asking requires a digital to analogue coversion which requires ££.

I am actually quite impressed with it, more than I thought I would be. I have been using it in my 'main' system which is driven by full range speakers but for those with say a PS3 and 'older' non HDMI receivers it makes an excellent solution. The feature / facilities on it are quite good tbh, even inc 7.1 in and out. Haven't tried it out with my 'sat' system yet but I think it will win many over.

Graham - are you trying to achieve TrueHD and DTS-HD audio and have 5.1/7.1 multi-channel inputs or are you just trying to get any kind of audio!!! There is an optical digital output you can use, and you can also use an old-school multi-AV-out connector like the old PS1 and PS2 cables to get analogue stereo (i.e. red and white RCA for stereo).
