All of these connections and I'm confused.

Which is the one I should be looking to get? I'm in the market for a 50" Plasma, it appears the Pioneer is high on the possible acquisition list at the moment. But one of the salespeople was telling me that I should definately go for the Pioneer as it has HDMI and is great, blah blah.

The only DVD player he had in the store that had an HDMI interface was $2400 (AU), yet he had a Samsung HD Dvd with a DVI Interface for $650. Thats a decent price gap. Yet due to time contraints I was unable to wait for him to demo both.

Does his claims of 'when you see HDMI running, you'll buy it and you won't want DVI' have any truth? Or is DVI just as good?
