Is there ... or will there be... such a device available to the UK?
    with an EXCELLENT player.

cos then I can use this as my main source of playback too... rather than have 2 seperate machines!

    Look forward to your replies.

    Cheers,
    Sid

    Hi Sid,

The new Toshiba XS34 out next March will have an HDMI output at least - no input, I think. Hope this helps.

I doubt you'll see a device that can Record the Encrypted digital stream from an HDMI equipped source from any of the big manufacturers sticking to the letter of the HDMI Law.

You may see a few low end recorders from companies who haven't signed up to the HDMI Licence agreement releasing Recorders that will record the HDMI stream - though these 'plug' holes will get in-filled by the HDMI governing body.

As you can see from the FAQ on the HDMI.org web site no mention of Recording!!! http://www.hdmi.org/what/faq.asp

    Best regards

    Joe

PS Like other manufacturers Pioneer UK will release a 'high end' DVR in December that's HDMI out with RGB in.
