    Dear All,

Is there such a thing as an HDMI to component convertor? I only ask because I have a DVD player (S97) which upscales to 1080i through HDMI, and I have a TV which can accept 1080i through component inputs.

Is their such a device, or are they illegal due to HDCP?

A DVD that has HDMI/DVI output with HDCP can not have the signal converted to component as this is against the licensing agreement of HDCP equipment. If there is no HDCP on the DVD player then the HDMI/DVI signal can be converted to component with a video processor such as my Lumagen Vision HDP and I assume others as well. The HDP switches off the analogue outputs if an HDCP flag is detected via the DVI inputs.

    Mark.
