I am going to built a XBMC/kodi based small htpc for use with a Toshiba 36" 100hz CRT TV. It's an old set but still very good for DVD / SD playback as it accepts 480p signal via component input. Plus, it weighs nearly 80kg so not going anywhere any time soon Strict input requirement means my options are quite limited and I will need to use an old GPU and large case to output component signal natively.... On the other hand I have an itx i5 board here that has onboard HDMI and is ready to go... Is it worth exploring the possibility of using a convertor to output 720x480 from HDMI to component? What is the PQ like via these boxes? Any comments/experiences are much appreciated.
