HDMI cable not work on PS3, but works on Xbox

Hi all, just got a new HDMI cable but it does not work on the PS3... sound comes out but no pic!

But if I plug the cable into my Xbox it works perfectly... any ideas?

Its obviously nothing to do with the HDMI cable since it works elsewhere, have you tried resetting the PS3 video settings? When the PS3 is off, turn it on by holding the power button down until it beeps several times, this will reset the video settings allowing you to select HDMI output.

Thanks for the reply... no the strange thing is other HDMI cables work on the PS3.

I got the HDMI cable for my PC but that's still being built, so I thought I'd check it on PS3 but nothing... thought it was a dodgy cable until I tried the Xbox
