am i missing something?

i connected a dvd player to a tv with a hdmi & thought the tv would auto switch to the correct input when the dvd player is powered up. it seems i have to manually select the input. is this normal hdmi behaviour?

Unfortunately, yes. Many displays do not support HDMI switching.

My Panasonic PX60 plasma does, though I don't know what others do.

Hi Stuart,
Yes, I had the same disappointment when I connected my Pioneer 696 to my Toshiba 32WLT66. It seems like a backward step for technology that HDMI does this, but scarts have one of those 21 pins to dedicate a switching signal to. The only consolation as I reach for the tv handset to cycle through the inputs is that I obviously get a better result with the HDMI. Maybe the problem will get resolved in our next purchases!!

I thought my new Samsung wasn't set up right! The LE32R51 doesn't auto switch:thumbsdow
