Hi

I am thinking about buying the Philips HTL5140 Soundbar and will connect it to my Sony Bravia TV using HDMI ARC

Am i right in thinking that once set up, when i turn the TV on using the sony remote, the soundbar will also turn on automatically and i will be able to adjust the volume using only the Sony TV remote?

My intention is to not have to use two remotes to turn on the TV and soundbar and adjust volume.

Thanks

Funnily enough, I'm thinking about the same sound bar and I have a Sony TV.

I've been reading up on a few sound bars and this is on my 'very short' list. I've also read about some having learning remotes, but one of the reviews I read suggested that the bar itself was a learning device. So it would learn the TV remote. I just can't remember if it was the Philips sound bar. Saying that though, you can't just rely on one persons view of things.
But the ARC HDMI should do the same thing, I think.

You might have a problem if your tv does not output audio signals via HDMI sockets best to check with SONY First.
