    Hi,

I've seen the HDMI i/p on the back of the newest Pioneer media box. Also http://www.hdmi.org/. I'm assuming the media box processes this i/p digitally, and basically just forwards the bits on to the screen.

Given an HTPC/HCPC installation, and a desire for the best possible PQ, it would seem a good idea to build a graphics card with a HDMI o/p.

While we're at it - why not drop in a digital audio o/p as well, and make best use of the connection. I'd like to avoid the on-board sound from my MB, but having a Shuttle I've only got 2 PCI slots. (One for TV capture, and one for video o/p.)

So - is anyone making a video/audio HDMI output card yet?

In the interim... can I use a DVI o/p?

    Cheers, Andy.

    Hi Andy,
    Yes.
At the EventII we were shown a DVI to HDMI cable, using it's backwards compatibility. This should be all you'll need as it's apparently up to the source device to declare if encryption would be needed.

It obviously won't supply HDMI audio though.

    regards,
    Rob.

    Hi Rob,

I take it that was used on a pioneer. Did they also try the dvi on the panny plasma if so what was the quality like? was it a big improvement over component?
