HDMI amp question.

Would i be right in saying that if i had stuff connected to an Hdmi amp via component,s-video etc that i would only need the single hdmi lead going to my tv for the picture?

Only if the amp you have upscales/upconverts from analogue inputs to the HDMI output..... Not all do, so you need to check this first.

Even cheaper onkyo 605. It doesn't upscale but I believe it will upconvert so should do what you need

i have no idea about the difference between upscale & upconverting but it sounds good!

upconverting won't make it look any better as far as I understand i.e. something that is s-Vhs out of an hdmi socket will still look like s-vhs, whereas is you've got upscaling it will try and make your s-vhs input look like 1080p (top quality) when it's output of course nothing compares to a true 1080p source in the first place.
