    Hello everybody,

    I have a simple question.
Lets assume I record a TV program (it takes 2 hours 20 mins) on HDD in as best as possible mode and 2 hr mode (I own Pioneer-520, in this box is called FINE and SP mode respectively).
After that I would like to copy those materials on DVD disc in Optimized mode or manually choose the time of recording (MN19)
Which copy will be better ? (depends on source quality)
    Why ?

What you want to do is record onto the HDD in the nearest quality setting to the programmes length. That way you can high speed dub to the DVD-R without any loss of quality.

If you record onto the HDD in Fine or SP and then re-encode dub to DVD-R you will effectively have a second generation copy and picture quality will be poorer.

Recording onto the HDD in FINE and re-encoding to DVD-R to fit the disc will look slightly better than SP > DVD-R. However both will look significantly worse than calculating the end running time of the disc (i.e. 3 x 45mins) and using the nearest recording mode followed by high speed dub.
