On my new machine? My nephew would then put his Hdd back in his machine. Think that would work? I woulnt wanna break my nephews machine. Thanks in advance!

You won't be able to recover the data from your old PS3 without getting the machine repaired sadly.

The PS3 HDD is encrypted using the PS3's hardware id. it will only work in THAT PS3
