    Hi All,

Does there exist an extender that will work with the Samsung UBD-K8500 @ 10 bits?

I guess I would be looking for something that could do 4:4:4 24p 10 bit. Even though I have seen the BD output 4:2:2 on the odd occasion.

HDBT does not currently support 4:4:4 at 60Hz - there are reports of folk achieving it by Pre encoding and then decoding before/after the HDBT encode/decode Chips.

Here are the chips hardware Manufacturers have to work with - Valens Products | Valens - First in HDBaseT

    Hi Joe,

    Thanks for the reply.

I am not after 60 hz, the K8500 seems to display the menu at 4:2:0, so that is not an issue.

It's when the movie is playing, it outputs 4:4:4 10 bit at 24hz. It's annoying as I cannot set it to 4:2:0 on movie play back.

I am toying with the idea of using HDFury inbetween BD and AVR, but rather have a HDBaseT extender that can handle what I need.

Ah OK - that one is going to require the 'suck it and see' approach.

Have you tried an HDBT Extender in the system?

The 'limitations' of the Extender may force the Player to drop out of 10-Bit mode - or as you suggest you may have to combine a Linker or Integral with the Extender.

    Joe

PS We have our Octava HDS100, HDF Linker and HDF Integral all in stock.

I have not tried an extender yet, can the HDS100 4:4:4 24p 10 bit? I could not find a detailed spec.

What the 'Spec' sheets itemise and what we can achieve in the real world are often at odds with each other.

We may have that Player in our Atlanta office - I'll find out tonight.

    Cheers Joe,

Just doing some reading on the HDFury, it seems it cannot be set to do 4K/24p 4:2:0 10 bit? That would scrap all my plans.
