So who else has this card now? it's nice to finally be able to encode dolby digital 5.1 on the fly without hanging onto old nvidia motherboards and soundstorm :)

Just interested in how the card is performing for other people, didn't see any posts so assumed people were to busy playing with their cards :)

Where can you buy this card?

I am looking for onboard dolby digital encoding so i can get 5.1 in games, Onboard sound is great via SPDIF but to get 5.1 in games you need to use Analogue outputs (which i cant as i am using my Analogue inputs on AMP) or onboard encoding with Soundstorm (not available on nforce 4)

    So defo would consider this

the guy selling it on ebay is actually the company itself, guess they thought why bother going through the hassle of releasing a product in another market when you can make twice the cash just selling them on ebay! :) you'll love the card.. not only is it a PCI solution for Dolby Digital Live Encoding but I'm sure the sound quality is way better than the chip on nforce boards.

could I use this to capture stereo TV and emulate Prologic II by passing a signal as good as Prologic II in a DD5.1 format to my Amp?
    (my amp doesn't have PL2)

it has some Spatial surround emulation in it, so you can take stereo signal and try to fill the 5.1 channels, ain't found the options yet. once it fills those channels it will of course encode it into DD5.1 don't think it will take it as pro-logic exactly... but it should sound pretty good.

I have ordered 4 from the manufacturer through EBAY

i will be selling the other 3 for about £60 - £65 delivered depending on what customs etc stick on.

I thought i might as well get 4 while he was doing a Dutch auction (To get his ratings up), as now he only does a BUY now auction at $85 which would work out at about £75 with delivery and customs.

If anyone is interested in one let me know

Will post my findings on this card when it arrives :)

    Just a quick question...

When i first installed the drivers, and selected SPDIF DD5.1 (48khz) etc. I'm sure my Amp showed DD5.1 all the time even when no sound was playing.

After a little play around with some WMV-HD9 files and altering between 96khz/44.1khz etc, i noticed the Amp receives PCM with no sound and switches to DD5.1 when there is a sound.

This leads to a slight delay in the sound and can miss the very start of the sound file etc.

I have reloaded the driver, but this made no difference.

So, does your card output DD5.1 all the time?(i'm sure it should)

    Ps
    (TIP!)
I had to inform Windows that i had 5.1 speakers (default is two in Sound control), before it would allow WMA(HD)5.1 to be converted to DD5.1 properly.

So is this the way to finally ditch the processor and allow sky+ spdif into the card and encode to multiple analogue outs in 5.1?

I would say no as Soundstorm couldnt do it through SPdif. The only SPdif on this card is high level (TTL level) SPdif from a cdrom.

just got mine with the hope that I could feed in a stereo TV input and have it encode to DD.

But how do you get it to playback the "line in"?
How do you get windows to for that matter? I can only record line in with the recorder accessory.

I got this card about a month ago from Overclockers.co.uk when it was in their special offers, and have been very impressed. It's mainly going to be used for my home cinema set up when I move out of my folks house, but I've tested the DDL 5.1 output on my parents system and it sounds brilliant.

Even standard 2 channel stuff sounds better than my old Audigy 2ZS 7.1. Music sounds much clearer and more real. Definitely one to buy!

'eye that's where I got mine from, not on offer when I ordered but they delayed over where to send it to, by the time they dispatched it, it was on offer again so I asked for the difference back and got it! Try phoning them though  you'll never ger through!

It does sound much better than my MSI's on board s/pdif. outputing at 44.1Khz makes it almost as good as my sperate CD/DVD player, but I still think it has a slight edge....

anyway the Qs still there, howdya take an analogue input and use it in windows "live"?

I got one of these but I think I was a bit silly and bought it unnecessarily. I'm outputting my HTPC to my amp which has Dolby PLII processing, which is doing the same thing as the Dolby Live isn't it? Turning a 2 channel sound into 5.1? Passthru isn't really a concern for me either as I use a standalone DVD player for watching movies and my TV won't accept the res needed for games so I guess I'll just have to sit on this until I get a better TV.
