hd5 with a blue backlight?

    Seems like more deceptive advertising - but we shouldn't be too surprised, our lovely friends at Sony have proved themselves masters at it by now...

    Yeah, looks like it. I guess they just chose blue because it grabs the eyes when it's against Silver more.

    Doesn't matter there, it's an ad campaign by Sony USA I think.

    I think it was originally planned to have a blue backlight so these might be really old marketing 'photos.

    Before I had seen one I had read a description which said, "blue backlight" and mentioned this to a new owner saying, "another good thing is that the backlight will match my remote (the RM-MC40ELK)".

    They corrected me saying that the screen was B&W.

    on a similar note....

    Has anyone ever managed to get their HD-5 screen totally white like the Sony ads ? - mine is a sort of pale yellow unless i tilt it to funny angles

    ... and believe me, i have played with the contrast settings al day long....
