I have a Sony HD5 and one thing that bothers me about it is that it doesn't appear to have the ability to normalise tracks.

When you change between the EQ (when listening to an Atrac file) and the digital sound preset the volume drops considerably when using the EQ.

Is this the HD5's way of normalising ?

Also can anyone recommend a good CD ripping software that may be able to carry out the normalising of tracks.

One other thing, must say all the posts about 1.2 firmware upgrade and the loundness opst upgrade are very confusing !

Thanks in advance for any replies.
