Anyone else think it looks like a nintendo portable computer game gizmo?

I much prefer it to the dictaphone looks of the HD3 though. However as a apple fan I am aware many people dont like the look of the i-pod. :D

Yes. Although the controls don't work as well, I prefer the HD3 for looks too. The HD5 is "iPod aspirational". But it's clear that the vertical orientation works better in the hand, so I guess you have limited room for change.

I love the HD5 too, I think its the best looking MP3 player on the market, the ne iRiver H10's are nice too.

On the other hand, I find the look of the iPod repelent.

The iPod puts me in mind of those cassette players for kids that were so popular about 20 years ago. I think Fisher Price made them ... anyway, I don't think the iPod looks 'grown-up' enough (though I feel I must swiftly add that it's not the look of Apple's all-conquering DAP that deters me, only what I perceive as its oddly 'thin' sound).

The white i-pod I think is getting a wee bit dated looking, but the minis and the shuffle look great I think.
