I have some good, and some irritating news for classical lovers using the Sony HD5/HD5H: Good news - ATRAC3Plus codec means you can enjoy classical music (or indeed, any other type of tune) exactly as the composer/artist/producers intended it on the original CD thanks to the gapless playback. Irritating news - Artist, Track, Album fields, etc, can only display up to 60 characters on the player (despite appearing as long as you like in SonicStage). This won't affect most people, but classical fans will immediately recognise the drawback. Solution? Think up a tagging system that keeps everything concise while avoiding album/artist conflicts on the player. I'll let you know what I dream up once I've had a think about it ... UPDATE: Good tip is to leave off musical direction (adagio, vivace, etc), and just use works' names and opus numbers in track titles. Also, add record label somewhere into album title, to avoid conflicts with different recordings of the same works; and use the composer's name rather than the performing artist in the Artist field, as this can easily run to over 60 characters, too! On the plus, this all equals less on-player scrolling, less backlight/operation and so on, and thus fractionally longer battery running times (I imagine).
