Hi, I'm sorry if this is repeated, i did look through the threads, but couldnt find my answer

How do i connect my pc so I can play HD clips to my 720 Acer LCD with DVI (no hdmi)?

Also, what dvd player does one get to be able to play HD dvd's to the telly?

Im a complete novice so i have no ideas what cables would be needed or anything.

Here is a list of plugs my pc (vaio pcv- w2) has
    Antenna in1
    Headphone Jack1
    Line in1
    Microphone Jack1
    RJ-11 Direct Port1
    RJ-45 Direct Port1
    USB Port Type2
    USB Port (quantity)4
    Audio L/R in1
    Composite video in1
    S-Video in

    :lease: I'd appreciate any advice!

    Hi

are you sure there is no vga-d sub monitor connector on your laptop?

Most laptops have one for office working usually a 15 pin female connector marked with two vertical lines with a box in between.

failing that you've no chance from the PC, s-video can't cut it.

DVD player wise you would need a player that would "up-convert" (Denon 2910, Samsung HD950) but for true HD you would need a player capable of playing WMVHD discs, and they're as rare as hen's teeth, sorry.

Your best bet is to wait for the new Xbox 360, which should play windows HD discs, come with a biot of tester HD content and play games at a minium of 720p
