So far, we have footie, cricket and rugby.

Major spectator sports, but what about other sports.

I want to see the Darts world championship, premier league darts and premier league snooker in HD. But I very much doubt I will. Contrary to what believe may believe, I reckon that the close up aspect of those two games would benefit a lot from HD.

Anyone got any more HD sport requests?

I think that speedway should go into HD soon as getting very good viewing figures but lighting at the tracks is a problem at the moment.

    I'll vote for that!

I think it's a real shame the US Open Tennis has not been broadcast in HD - especially as the host broadcaster is offering an HD feed.

think speedway would benefit enormously from HD, problem being that a great majority of coverage comes from local eastern european tv companies, and from recent viewing, you're lucky if you get all the races from a meet, so HD i reckon is a far flung fantasy :rotfl:

Yeah pretty poor that considering someone said they'd read a Sky statement confirming it would be broadcast in HD.

Guess that was said before the contract and therefore the price, was confirmed.

As for other sports, I don't really like Golf too much but it does look spectacular in HD, so more golf tournaments would be good. HD actually adds to the game of golf itself in that you can appreciate more the challenges of different shots depending on the ball placement, fairway, rough, bunker etc.

I'd love to see the American sports but that isn't going to happen for a long time despite Sky being part of the same group as Fox, NFL and Baseball in particular.

    F1 would also be huge.

WWE has done tests with HD in the states, that'd be awesome 'cos then you could clearly see every time they 'pretend' to punch each other, haha.

HD basketball might be cool though, or maybe NFL all season rather than just the Superbowl (like last year)...

I seem to recall that F1 is - or as least is about to be - filmed in HD. The downside was that they were talking about showing the races in cinemas at a cost of £15. As much as I'd love to see it in HD I wouldn't be prepared to pay any extra over my Sky package / HD subscription to watch it a la pay per view, let alone £15. Anyone else be prepared to pay even more to be able to watch their favourite sport in HD, womens volleyball aside?

I think if it was pay per view I would, but not go to a cinema to watch F1. Sky had to offer certain content in HD to get us to sign up. Anything else they provide in HD should already be paid for by the £10 if you ask me, until they put their prices up annually like they do with Sky Movies and Sports.

Not that I watch it but NFL or those all night wrestling things should be in HD if available.

I would love to see British Superbikes in HD. Sky already show it on the HD sports channels sometimes but it's upscaled SD pictures.

British Touring Cars, Super Bikes, Moto GP

Is Eurosport going to launch a HD channel? Would be good to see all their GT coverage in HD., those Ferraris and Astons would look great.

Channel 923 in HD would be good too please.

Not sure how it works but Dorna have the rights to MotoGP. So unless they agree there's sod all Eurosport have to do with it :(

Most of the MotoGP races aren't even in widescreen

Found some good news about the darts. The World Grand Prix Darts tournament will be in HD in October according to Digiguide and the Sky Programme Info website. :smashin: Also the Poker Million will be covered in HD.

I'd love to see Baseball in HD. I've just got into this since subscribing to Setanta and it narks me when there's HD logo's all over the broadcast, but I can't see it in HD.

Hmm... the EPG (and the adverts for the tournament) don't seem to be advertising this as being in HD, even though Sky Programming Info (In Quickview AND the Live sports fixtures section) and Digiguide still do.

Either someone has made an error, or Sky have changed their mind at the last minute.

If Sky would get away from their definition of Sport (Sport = Football) they might get me to subscribe to the sports channels, but not until they start replacing some of that football, full of over-priced prima donnas who seem to do nothing but fall down with "injuries" and gob on the pitch, with more interesting sports.

I think the NFL game at Wembley later this month will be in HD and the Superbowl as well which hopefully will lead to all next season NFL games in HD.

There is no money in other sports even Rugby and Cricket by themselves could not sustain a profitable sports channel and without Prem Footy even SKY would fall flat on their face and with it then prices are perhaps too high for people with no interest in footy.

Setanta with their niche sports channels are the better option but they seem to be going in the same direction with footy the main driver for new business.
The upside is that the less interest PAY telly has in some sports the more likely they will appear on FTA telly and if they don't then that perhaps indicates that there is no practical interest even for the BBC to screen them.

Whoopee - F1 is about as exciting as driving round the M25 in rushhour - except there are more chances to overtake on the M25 :boring:
