Are there any benefits of watching Normal TV with a HD ready LCD compared to a NON HD ready LCD or CRT set ?
are they better then say watching a movie Trailer on a older NEC PC type monitor,

The only potential benefit would be if you get yourself the likes of a Samsung 850 or 950 DVD player, which can output at 720p and 1080i. It'll turn your DVDs into something a little bit better than they already look on the CRT.
Otherwise, no major difference, but as HD is coming in one form or another (Sky/pre-recorded HD-DVD or BR discs) then you'd be better off with a HD Ready TV than one that wasn't.
Especially, if it's a one off purchase to last the next 5 years at least.
