HD Freeview with a Sony KDL-40W2000?

Does anyone know if the Freeview tuner in the Sony KDL-40W2000 will be able to pick up and display HD Freeview signals in the future?

It won't, no, they're in MPEG-4 and natively this only accepts MPEG-2.

French terrestrial TV is in MPEG-4 I believe so over there, a company's come up with a card that slots in the TV's card slot that transcodes the signal to MPEG-2 so the TV can show it. However even if it could understand the video codec, I don't think it'd be able to handle the extra resolution.

Extra resolution? AFAIK Freeview HD is just normal 1080 isn't it?

Yeah, but I meant over the system we have right now. I'd be surprised if Sony had tested the internal tuner would be able to pass 1080i onto the video processor and I'd be doubly surprised if it worked without a hitch...
