I have mine setup & running & it looks great ! One thing though, I have it connected via optical to my Panasonic SCHT855 & it sounds like surround sound but the HD-E1 only shows 2 channel on the front display, any ideas ?

I have selected Digital Out SPDIF Bitstream in the HD-E1 audio set up but no sound comes through the Panny, I can get 2 channel sound by selecting Digital Out SPDIF PCM.

    Help !

    Thanks

    Steve

does the panny support DTS if it does not then you can not get the bitstream through and the pcm only supports 2 ch.

    Hi Dave,

Yes it does support DTS, I'm thinking it can't be the lead as it's allowing sound through using pcm ?

    Cheers

Check the manual...if your panny is an all in one job then it mightn't decode DTS through the optical in...I have the panny HT900 and while it will decode a DTS bitstream from the onboard DVD player it won't decode it through the optical input(trust me found out the bad way)

    Thanks (I think !) GPMCDERM
I think that sounds like the most likely thing, really fed up with that. Might have to get a new surround system that does decode DTS, anyone know of any decent ones.

decent ones will come in as a separate amp, choose your own speakers. 99% of all in ones are nobbled in some way. I refuse to sell them for this reason, people often ask. You always end up regretting such a purchase, especially if it says 'Bose' on the front.... Go get a surround amp from Denon, Onkyo, Pioneer or Yamaha, in alphabetical order, not quality order necessarily. Ideally it should have analogue multi channel input as well as coax/optical in.

Any suggestions on a good model number to get ? I don't want to spend a mint though ! & would preferably want to use my panny speakers, all I want is 5.1 from my HD-E1 & 5.1 from Sky HD.

    Thanks
    Steve
