    Hi all,

Does anybody know of any hd dvd/blue ray hybrid player that can output 1080p via the component analogue output?

Xbox 360 with the HD-DVD addon can output 1080P via VGA, don't think it can via component. I don't think any player can for legal reasons, as they want 1080P only via HDMI as it can be 'protected' with HDCP. The VGA is a loophole as it considered a PC not AV connection. I'm sure you could get a VGA to component converter as AFAIK it is the same signal. ;) Try here for starters... :smashin:

thanks for your reply. vga is just as good. I have just discovered this player:

    http://uk.lge.com/products/model/detail/highdefinitionplayer_bh100.jhtml

but I do not trust lg processing and scaling etc. I might wait until Denon or some other more reputable brand comes out with a dual format hd player with HQV processing and 1080p component output. year 2010 maybe lol.

Ahh the LG, it's also not fully HDI compatable, so it's not really a proper HD-DVD player as such.. I guess I was wrong about the 1080P via component then.. ;)

Check out the latest Samsung Dual players, they might have what you are looking for??? Due end of this year.. but from the looks of it there will be a waiting list :rotfl:

Yes he did... I still think he's just a mis-understood comic genius... surely the (arguably) most powerful man in the world couldn't be that stupid.. could he? ;)

    Enjoy.

    Hi,

The problem here is using the term 1080P generically as seems so commonplace these days.
The 360 can output 1080/60p (or 1080/50p) via component or VGA assuming the display will accept it.
    It cant output 1080/24p.
Firstly because it doesnt have the hardware and secondly because its this signal that is restricted to HDMI.
    -
Similarly standalones will also be restricted in the same manner, IE 1080/24p HDMI only.
