In the Feb edition of Home Cinema Choice there's a feature Amplifier Shootout. Between

    1. Sony STR-DB790 (£300)
    2. Denon AVR-1804 (£400)
    3. Onkyo TX-SR501(£300)
    4. JVC RS-8032VSX (£400)
    5. Marantz SR4400 (£350)

These are listed as HCC chose from best to worst. I was previously thinking of getting the Marantz cos it's quite good value for the money but HCC report there are no component connections. So that's a bit of a downer.

What do you guys think of the choices and what would be the best option for a entry level receiver?

I have seen that Sony amp for £200. Do I buy the Sony for £200, the Marrantz 5400, Denon 2803, Denon 1804. I have a 9ft by 9ft square bedroom.
Sorry to keep brining this up but I want to order an amp next week and dont know which to buy.

I saw the review in the Home Cinema Choice Magazine and like I have said there are a few places selling it for £200.

sony is overrated, good feature set but leave your music cd's away from it. AVR1804 is much better all rounder. If you can push up to the AVR2803 you'll be well impressed.
