Thanks for the review Cas. :smashin:

This wasn't something that was really on my radar but your review has changed my mind since I enjoyed Skins back in the day. Hopefully this will be just as good.

Wasn't really going to watch this but after hearing that Di Caprio says it's a must watch, I thought let's try it.
I'm currently four episodes in and it's definitely not for kids lol.

Those of us born in the 70s had a simpler life and thank God we did. Scary to be a teen today. The need to look perfect and the need to poke anything that moves.

I am enjoying it as I keep thinking, glad I am past that age a long long time ago.

Definitely a 8/10 for me.
Full of interesting messed up characters and being HBO it's close to the bone.

More please.
:)

Thanks Cas.
Anything centred around teens is usually means I don’t watch, but 3 episodes in this is excellent so far.
Such a shame that it gives Game of Thrones a run for its money with picture quality. Some of the darker scenes look awful.

Agreed on the series and it's like the contrast is way way off course in the dark scenes.

It was good at the start but by the end of the series I felt like I was on drugs and really had no idea what was happening. But if that was the intended effect of such poorly lit scenes I can give it a round of applause. Fog machines certainly worked over time.

Finisshed this and it does grip if you let it. Or perhaps more plainly,; if you can get past Zendaya's drug entitled Rue, who is abrasively self-serving. Oh, and the rather high pic and actual dick count ranging in both size and flaccidity. In fact, it only struck me afterward that there isn't, as I recall, a bare or mirkin'd vagina in the whole thing.
Possible viewership cock unblock aside, it did have me thinking how glad I was not to have kids in the US in those incestuous social/media cohorts that have no real parental control, let alone guidance. The teens run rampant in parties and camera phones get to work as sources of shame to the Nth degree.
A sizable chunk of drugged braiin is needed to swallow the interweaving stories, which aren't exactly reputable srime fiction strong in eluding scrutin but are either designed for fun and/or shock by degree. The early fat girl vs Principal: in out person of colouring him by replacing fat female experience over black in exploitation is madly amusing and a setting of things to come,
Lots of topics cross paths and some better or deeper than others, though the overriding theme is one of a quest for love and acceptance both at intra and interpersonal levels - whatever the cost.

Actually Cas; I was wondering if this had been trimmed for the UK, as it has graphic sexual images including felatio with fully erect penis shots and masturbating to engorged states etc.?

I'm only halfway through, and it doesn't appear to have a shortage of penises.

Yeah, it is a real sausage-fest with an unusual absence of pie slices - or perhaps I should use the famous analogy from Spartacus with Laurence Olivier hitting on Tony Curtis to put a classic air on things?!

Thanks for this Cas! Agree with the 8/10

Really enjoyed it, great characters and kept me gripped until the end.

One of the highlights for me being the cracking soundtrack. Donny at the end had a few of my (what’s remaining) hairs standing on end.

Definite similarities, as you mentioned, with Assassination Nation. Worth a watch for anyone who enjoyed this and likes a bit of a shoot em up

It will be interesting to see if Levinson can keep things zipping along or season 2.
The obvious trouble, to me anyway, is that it relies so heavily on drug abuses and the various fallout scenarios which, have been pummeled somewhat to the point of...oh yeah.
Putting out a whole series on what is usually covered in a film's length is brave in a sense but multiple seasons? I do however welcome the chance to see some characters but when I see an image of Zendaya it still gets my hackles up.

Loved it, very hard hitting. I thought the ending was predictable but correct, as well as opening up a possible 2nd series. But doesn't every series 1 do that!

Its sort of comparable to Skins, but it obviously relates to the US "class" system, jocks etc

Also A Song For You by Donny Hathaway, wow, where did they dig that classic song from! great soundtrack throughout.

Also a mention for my favourite non-lead character Fezco played by Angus Cloud (great name!), cracking actor.

Only 3 episodes in but it doesn't seem to have a story to tell so far.

Its just American lads treating women like sh*t and can't deal with their emotions as they're all pampered little boys still.

It's a new Special double-episode filmed during Covid. The first has just been released and is very good - follows Rue. The second is in the NY, and it follows Jules.

I knew I should have done a review lol!

It's an interesting series, I just started watching it. As a just-entering-young-adulthood person, I can indentify with the characters' struggles. It's indeed a weird thing growing up in these times.

I just started it too. As a forty-something bloke I found this more like a horror show (!) I'm sure it's been amped up to eleven of course, but still..."when I was a lad" etc. This series portrays a world I can barely empathise with.

Still, pretty compulsive viewing, I'm strangely hooked. Really interesting visual style and Zandaya is a really impressive actress.

Fantastic S2 opener!
Amazing series, impeccably produced, utterly compelling as well as terrifying as a 40yr old man

What a start! Been a while since I watched the last one so i was racking my brains trying to remember the “beef” certain characters had with each other, it soon comes back though.

I’d forgotten how many intriguing characters were in this, not just one or two but most characters. There doesn’t seem to be any dead wood like you get in a lot of stuff which is refreshing.

Anyway first episode definitely left me wanting more so can’t wait to watch the next one.
