Hawaii Five-0 (CBS)

Looking forward to it. I took a while to warm to the two leads but their interplay gradually seemed to get better. Although I do find Scott Caan overacts occasionally.

What this series really needs is a strong female cast member who doesn't look like she has been prevented from eating proper food for months. Both Grace Park and Lauren German looked so skinny it was almost painful.

Something about her sour puss of a face I just can't stand

Thanks Rai, enjoy H5O.
Usually watch on Sky, which aint aired till Jan though !
UK should be a week max behind USA imo.
Any news on NCIS LA next season (will check now for threads) as I really like that even more than H5O.

Disagree here, I don't want a series messed about with endless repeats and massive gaps between new episodes.

In the US they make one season last from September till May. That's about 36(ish) weeks with only 24 actual new episodes.

I'd much rather have the big gap between seasons instead of endless repeats that we have on Sky etc.

I think I agree with you mate but not quite sure what you mean.

If USA make 24 episodes last 36 weeks, then yeah agree perhaps UK should wait until they can air all 24 episodes back to back with no breaks (which is what they do isn't it, so this is less des-jointed).

So on that point would agree that UK better to wait and air all back to back.

That is what tends to happen on Sky 1 with NCIS LA and H5O anyway.

Have I interpreted your post wrong ?

The gaps are annoying for sure.

Your earlier post was saying UK should be only a week max behind the US. To do that we would have endless breaks in the series as opposed to a complete run of the series like we have now with no breaks.

So it either starts in January and has no breaks or starts close to the US air date and has endless breaks.

Yeah I did read you right the first time then and to this end agree with your point.

If a series cannot air episodes back to back and is to suffer long breaks, I would also sooner wait till all episodes are available to air.

That said, some programmes do suffer really long lags in the UK long after they have aired the entire series in the USA a la Homeland, Suits, Dexter etc, although I hear Homeland will be aired in the UK much closer to the USA this time, probabaly due to its success.

Lets face it, an American series is normally 2 real series. The mid period break even normally has a cliff hanger like a series end.

Yeah, they tend to have a month break at Christmas.

just watched this the other night, pretty good opener...

the whole
mummy/shelbourne/wo-fat thing is getting tiresome and predictable but Chin's story with his wife and getting revenge was an excellent story line.... brutal ending for baldwin's character
as well..!!

I'll give this thread a bump as this just started tonight.

Must say without spoilers I thought it was a let down. If I wasn't well into this show, that episode would probably make me think twice about continuing.

It was like the A-Team in parts, truly laughable.

In fact, I will say some spoilers so:
The whole drug heist ending was ridiculous to the extreme. Over the last two episodes the gang have blown up the police station, killed loads of people including 5 construction guys, just to get back into the police station to steal a load of drugs. Including a farcical helicopter truck heist and rescue of Well Hung Fat. This was a hell of a lot of work and they eventually get away with said drugs, but stuck in a bit of traffic instead of barging through in their armoured car full of drugs, they just get out and start shooting at the cops. Utter nonsense. Surely they had a better getaway plan that that? Why not use that super helicopter to airlift the truck to their boat. Ridiculous!

And please, get the female parts to actually eat some food when they are not filming, so they don't all resemble famine victims!

I can see where the Wo fat/Steve's Mom thing is going...

She's his mom, right? Steve's half brother? Either that or Wo Fat's daddy is not dead. Those are the only two reasons I could see him NOT killing her, not after everything he's done to get to her. I'm inclined to the first reason since SHE faked shooted at him.

thats my theory as well.......

but i do find it all very  esp as it was hard enough to accept the fact that steve's mum is alive AND she is Shelbourne.....:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

Still though, as said enough, this is was one of those shows for me that is so bad its good and as much as anyone looking at it could find a million dumb plot holes it does entertain at the end of the day. :)

I also agree with the theory above and is exactly what I thought.

I watched the 1st episode last night and it was the expected usual easy going view.

The helicopter scene CGI was a bit dodgy though :)

It's a fairly enjoyable programme and fills a slot (along with NCIS LA) which has been lacking ever since we lost 24 (although its nowhere near the action or quality of 24, just the closest thing for that fix at the moment).

The one thing that really bugs me though is the over long un-funny dialogue they insist on having for the in-car shots which are also obviously studio shots. These scenes always annoy me and they feature in every episode and why is Steve always driving Danno's car like its his !!

Take the poor elements away, give it some polish and this could be an excellent programme.

Take the poor elements away
Then you'd be left with only the opening credits - which aren't quite as good as the originals.

But then again it knows it's z-grade twaddle and has the balls to not give a damn. And is all the more enjoyable for it.

Regards

Mark

You have to laugh at the private investigator that 'wrote the book' on covertly observing people and then follows them around a supermarket in same isle. Anyone even vaguely survalliance aware is going to spot you.

I think you need to watch it with tongue firmly planted in cheek. :p

Yeah of course.

I enjoy both this and NCIS LA, but they are time fillers at best.
