I am having Sky installed next week.

The thing that is worrying me, is all my other kit !

A stranger in my house seeing all my other AV equipment, inc plasma screen and relativly High End Hi Fi system.

Would he be interested in letting somebody know what equipment is in my house, and then visiting me when I am not in ?

Now what I could do is move the entire of my system out for the day, which as you have guessed will take hours. Last time I had to move eveything, it took me 5 hours to set it up.

    5 Hours !!! I have lots of components !

Can I ask what do you guys do ?

leave the shotgun on display.. ;)

    seriously......tough call really.
however I remember a friend of mine turning the engineers away at the door becuase they looked "dodgy" (dont ask me to define that). They were subbies not actualy Sky folks...
he demanded a Sky van and got one.

best thing to do is make your house as burglar proof as possible,i would not only worry about someone being told what i have, but would be more concerned about keeping the opportunity thief out, according to reprots most burglars are not interested in bulky electrical goods, but more of your identity and credit cards,

hide your media if you have it all on display, they are more likely to nick a shedload of dvds than a heavy av amp...

I was obviously going to stay with him.

I think I am going to have to move it, I would feel much better.

I know it will take me around 6 hours, but I guess it will take me a damn site longer than trying to find it all again !

What a world we live in !

BTW, thanx for the media suggestion, that never crossed my mind :smashin:

Why not pretend that you are going to be doing some decorating and cover everthing with sheets?

If you intend to use your Sky Digibox with a plasma screen, you need to make sure that they are mutually compatible.

If the guy turns up at the allotted time, he's most likely to be legit, and probably sees 10's of 1000's of £'s of gear every week. In any case, a plasma screen is quite hard to lift by one person :)
