    ....misinformed?

Me and my wife have just been bought a freesat hd box for recording freesat/freesat hd channels for our anniversary (though it being early).

We have been with Sky for years, but can no longer afford it.

On the phone after I cancelled the Sky subscription completely, I was told that we would still be able to use the Sky HD box to view AND record freesat channels due to the box being new and recording is not paid for monthly anymore.

I'm aware that I can use it as a Skyfreesat box, but I wasn't aware that we should still be able to record channels even after the subscription ends?

    Is this correct?
Have any of you cancelled your subs and still been able to record with a sky HD box?

    cheers

Recording is meant to be dependent on a TV subscription, or to be available without one for a monthly payment.
Some people find they can record with an old blue card in the machine but that shouldn't apply to a recent card.
