I opted to get Sony’s STR-DE485 Receiver with 2 front 2 rear and centre eltax surround speakers. I think they are dx 50's?! Im getting this second hand for £290.

Was initially looking to get Yamaha HTIB45 package for £299 from

    http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/productdetailsnew.asp?MODELCODE=YAM-HTIB45

My main aim is to have surround setup for my xbox and gamecube. Also for dvd & music. Id just like to know if ive made the right choice?

Any help is appreciated, I'm blatently N00b at this. Thanks.

The fronts are Millennium 100's, the centre is a Millennium centre and I think the rears are the millennium mini's. Hope this is of some help. I have the same fronts and center but the HT-2's biopolar rears. The fronts and centre sound pretty good, the centre didn't sound that good at first but after it was run in it sounds fine. You won't have that problem anyway cause its second hand so will already be run in. I can't comment on what the rears are like cause has I said mine are differen't.

This setup sounds ok to me for the money but I have never heard the Sony in question so perhaps someone else can comment on that.
