I bought a pw6 yesterday from Richer Sounds but didn't set it up until today. I got a scart terminal board as i dont have component source from my DVD player. I'm running Sky through my TIVO both rgb out. I've only tried it so far with my DVD player on the rgb out but the picture looked pretty crappy even after using the THX optimizer. However, I've just tried a DVD on my PC via the vga input and it looks a lot better through that. Should I have not got this scart board and gone for the jstech rgb to vga converter or would that not have made a difference to my DVD input and also maybe a quintro for the TIVO? Also if needs be, how are Richer Sounds on refunds? :)

suugest you scrap scart board and get an RGB>VGA converter from JS technology...... only works for RGB but mush better than the PAnny scart (good cable will help too) see the hundreds of threads about this and the panny scart board....

Thought I might have to. Out of interest once I connected through the converter would I get an even better picture for the dvd if I had a player with component out or would the difference not be that noticeable?

If you get a component DVD player you need to get a component input capable board (cant send RGBHV and YUV to the same socket without changing settings on panel...)

OK, may have to get one of those then, but will the picture look better than through the rgb to vga?

I got the JS tech box now and it made such a difference. Should I get a couple of decent scart leads now because i'm just using bog standard ones i've got in the past that came with vcr's sky boxes etc?

Short answer, YES!! You don't have to go over the top, QED squart, about £25 would do nicely.

Richer Sounds offer a 2 week home trial and I assume it covers plasmas, so you should be able to take the plasma back with no problem at all.

I have bought and returned a couple of items from Richer Sounds and never had a problem.

I'm looking at the QED sqart p21 or p41. I'm leaning towards the p41 as it's only carrying a rgb signal it "should" give a better picture but i'm just guessing and would appreciate any first hand knowledge! Would the av21 or 41 give better results than the other two or should i stick to the performance range?

You're right about the inverted commas, either should be splendid.

The performance range is a little bit more practical, as it has a 'straight' connector. And to be honest, I doubt there is much to choose between the P21 and P41. I would just go with the P21.

P41 is great (but AS RGB only it may be of limited use in the future where as the fully wired P21 can used in any application~) but a p41 will maximise your PQ as far as possible...
