Apologies if this has already been mentioned.

I've just seen that a new series of Have I Got News For You starts tonight at 9:30 (Jack Dee hosts).

Damn I assumed it was a repeat and didn't bother with it, it looks like it's repeated tonight on BBC2 though.

    Hi JohnG

It's a new series - consisiting of nine episodes. The episodes will air on Fridays on BBC1 at 9:30pm, and then repeated the following night, on BBC2 at around 10:30pm. I have to say, that the first episode shown last night (and repeated tonight) with Jack Dee, wasn't up to the usual standard. Dee's heart just didn't seem to be in it.

That’s Jack Dee laconic humour, dry and looking bored stiff.

I thought Dee was OK, but I agree that the episode didn't seem up to the usual standard. Hopefully it's just a blip and not the beginning of the end.

    Bring back angus :smashin:

I am sure that it has been long enough now that he would be bale to host the show again. Its not as if he hasnt been able to get any TV work at all.

I would also like to see Angus back again as it was usually a good bit of banter between them all. I think the main obstacle for that is the Paul Merton slagged Angus off quite publicly when he was sacked.

personally i thought jack dee would make a good full time presenter.
angus deating was alright reading scriptwriters gags but soon as things used to drift off, half the time he'd shug his shoulders and look lost.

Nah... Angus had his day, and it appears that there was some friction there between him and Paul Merton.

Its about time they did put a permie host back in. Personally, I think the man for the job is Alexander Armstrong - on his hosting appearances so far, he's been able to adlib with Merton and Hislop and isn't as autoque-bound as many of the other presenters.

Personally I would have Dara O'Brain as permament host. He's always hilarious when he's on. In fact he's almost too funny, even mananges to overshadow Paul Merton at times.

I don't think Paul Merton would put up with that for very long though as I get the impression he doesn't like it when someone is funnier than him
