Just noticed. New series starts tonight at 9:30.
Damn missed it. It's repeated Saturday 10.30 PM
I thought it was good, too. Mind you Danny Baker is brilliant on anything.
Have little bet with the wife how many minutes it take Clarkson to mention a car.
The funniest thing on HIGNFY was the Newsnight Weather Reports with Jeremy Paxman.
I laughed so hard it hurt!
Hehe... Easily one of the best bits of last night's show I get the feeling that Paxo is not too enthused about the new weather reports
The weather reports were hilarious, i thought Danny Baker was really good too
Watched it last night and found it very funny
Danny Baker was good on there, and sadly doesn't appear on TV too often these days.
I'm lucky that I live in London, and can hear his hillarious radio show every weekday morning (from 6am -> 9am), which can sometimes be so off the wall, that it defies description!
This is also webcast on http://www.bbc.co.uk/london
I think I was one of the only ppl who actually watched and enjoyed his Letterman style chat show that he had on BBC1 for all of 5 mins. a few years ago.
Talking of HIGNFY - they seem to be churning around the same guest presenters now (e.g. Jeremy Clarkson on the last one).
Does anyone think that this is becoming somewhat distracting, and that its time to get a permenant host again?
ALthough some of the hosts have been brilliant, Boris Johnson, and Brucie to name but two...
I was at the filming on Thursday night - it's amazing how much they actually filmed to get just under 30 minutes of broadcast tv. I think it was about 1h 40 minutes in total.
Some of the stuff they didn't show (AFAIK) was:
1) Paul and Ian laying into Neil Kinnock's guest presenter efforts.
2) The whole thing on cane toads with Clarkson calling them cane turds by mistake.
3) Clarkson asking Germaine Greer if she was wearing any underwear.
4) Paul doing some great impersonations of Ian as Dr Who.
5) Clarkson's long rambling diatribe against Rover.
and loads more.
If you ever see the tickets advertised (they're free) try and get some.
Danny Baker used to have a Saturday morning football radio show with another Danny on Talk Radio. I absolutely loved it. Hilarious.
Then one Saturday it disappeared and I phoned the replacement show to ask where it was.
They said it had been taken off and did I have a football related question?
'Me? No I hate football.'
Haven't listened to the radio since.
QI is probably my favourite TV programme. Danny is excellent on that, too.
I thought pauls thoughts on fox news finding out if the pope was dead for them selves was funny. "Let me punch him in the gut, and see if he wheezes" and "who hasn't done enough for rover", "the pope".
Sorry if anyone is offended by that, but I thought it was funny.
The best bit had to be Paxman though, "Its april, take a guess" (or something along those lines)
I thought it was "It's April what do you expect."
At the filming that Fox News joke went on for about 3 minutes but was cut to about 30 seconds for the tv.
Oh and Paul Merton's impression of Charles was pant-wettingly hilarious at the filming -I hope it came across well on the tv. After the cameras stopped rolling he told the audience he would think about making it his running joke/impression for the whole series! Here's hoping!
Another funny moment was at the start when they were all getting miked-up. Danny told Paul to tell the audience what had happened when he showed up earlier that day for the filming. Paul went to say that this was the 29th series and he'd been coming to the London Studios (as they are now called) all this time and yet when he'd shown up at reception a couple of hours earlier to say he was on HIGNFY as one of the team captains, the receptionist took a look at him and said "Which one are you?"
Very much agree about QI. A veritable cornucopia of useless information, but also very funny.
Ah like minded people, not much better.
