Have I broken my DVI port ?

Background:
I got my shiny new Q321 screen from Novatech but it didnt work on DVI. (another story)
PC detected it OK, setup the HD config OK (Nvidia 6800LE) but nothing came up on the screen. Tried another PC - same problem.

Question:
This could be a really stupid question  but does anyone know if its possible to break your video card or monitor DVI port ? Stoopidly I plugged the DVI cable straight back into my monitor without removing the Q321 monitor config from Windows.

Anyway now my Viewsonic monitor doesnt work on DVI.

Have tried reloading Nivida drivers, removing video card from Windows, removing all monitors from Windows but I only now get a VGA connection working....

HELP!!!

With DVI you should not have to reconfigure anything manually.

Have you tried a different cable? As it is no longer woking with your PC monitor either there is a chance this is the root cause.

I didnt think so either as it worked with my monitor straight out the box, but have read so much stuff on LCDs over the last few days my head is spinning

Not the cable - b*gger, guess it is the monitor or the graphics card which is kaput. Will need to try another monitor / pc.
