Evening all. Just joined the Forum but have been lurking for a while! :D

This week I purchased a new TV. As a firm believer in taking up technology late to get a cheaper deal I went for a Sony KDL50 W829 from Argos for the great price of £599.

However when the TV arrived tonight (less than 30 minutes ago) it was a different model. Instead I have sat in front of me a Sony 50W805C.

John Lewis are currently selling this TV for £899. I can find no reviews of it anywhere. Do I send it back? Or is it a better TV and should I really be keeping schtum?

As the thread title says; have I been done up like a kipper? I humbly await the wisdom of forum users.....o_O

Only get a one year warranty from Argos. It's this year's model, whether it is better or not probably depends on uses. I think the new model has more input lag of gaming is your thing

Thank you for the replies. I hadn't realised it had already been covered in another thread so I apologise for that.

Still unsure what to do though. And I haven't even opened the box yet!!!!!:(

Yeah I read that. But he ended with the caveat that he would be on the lookout for a 2nd hand W829. I took this to mean that if/when he did track one down then the W829 would supplant the new one (if that makes sense?).

He wants a TV with low lag for gaming if I recall. The w829 meets that criteria better

If worried, send it back, get a refund, find the w829 :)

Update. Put the TV together, plugged it in. Asked me to update the firmware which I did. Firmware update failed and tv is stuck in a loop and is now unresponsive.:suicide:. Haven't even got to see a single TV program on it!
